EMPTY CHAIRS / EMPTY PLACES
meine Geschichte dazu:
Ich habe während der ersten 6 Wochen des Covid Lockdowns Bilder von 40 Zürcher Restaurants und Bars gemacht, indem ich das Innenleben der Lokale von aussen, durch die Fenster, fotografiert habe. Es war, wie Ihr alle Euch sicherlich noch erinnert, eine Geisterstadt - jedoch mit sehr vielen Reizen.
In der Altstadt lebend, spazierte ich täglich durch die Gassen und schaute mir die Lokale an, die ich doch so gut kenne und sehr vermisste. Es war eine schwierige Zeit für alle!
Somit habe ich das Projekt Empty Chairs/Empty Places angefangen, mit der Absicht all diese Lokale zu unterstützen.
In early Spring 2020, the entire world halted due to an invisible virus – one that impacted us all in one form or another. It was a battle we did not expect to face and while it was challenging in many ways, it ironically managed to shed light on behaviors that simply no longer feel human.
It forced us to step back from a society fueled by consumption. It showed us how nature can flourish if we give it the space and it taught us to appreciate one another face to face - in ways we haven’t seen since technology replaced the majority of our social interactions. It was a re-set, one that we can reflect on and surely agree was needed!
Across the first 6 weeks I captured 40 different bars and restaurants during my strolls throughout the city of Zürich, mainly in the old part of town where the charm so often seems to have been replaced by modernity. I aimed to capture the essence of these places and how they will once again bring people together, hopefully in a more personal, human way.
